Rás Mumhan – Stage 1B (RR)

Stage 1B

Another new addition to Rás Mumhan for 2024, Castleisland to Knocknagoshel via Brosna.

Assembly will be at An Riocht AC, The Craggens, Castleisland, V92 XV82, @3:55 pm we will roll out of Castleisland to KM zero and flag drop, at the 80km signs 1.4km on the Brosna Road.

We start climbing straight away up the Black Banks and past the Slavers Market from the 18th century, heading for Brosna. The first KOM comes fast just after 6.5km of racing. With the potential of an early break forming after the climb we head for Brosna from where we take the Cork Line and head for Knocknagoshel.

Here we do 5 laps once we reach the four crossroads with a Cat 5 KOM at each passing. These laps will be familiar to anyone who completed the 2022 edition of Rás Mumhan.

After the 5 laps have been completed, the cyclists will turn right and head up the 600m climb through Knocknagoshel village to finish outside Knocknagoshel Community Centre.

Support cars will be directed straight on at the four crossroads, after the five laps are completed, and can approach the finish from the opposite side of the village.
