Rás Mumhan – Stage 2 (RR)

 

Stage 2

Quickly becoming one of the iconic stages of the Irish road scene, the Killarney Sneem stage will commence from the St Oliver’s School (Sign-on location) under an 8km neutralised roll-out toward Fossa.

The racing will get underway at 10:00 at the 100 KPH sign on the exit from Fossa Village.

The race will then proceed to Killorglin via the main N72 road. On arrival at Killorglin the race will pass over the Killorglin bridge before turning left onto Annadale Road at the Bianconi and then turn right at Annadale Cross toward Glencar.

Racing a slight, but testing, drag to Glencuttane and Glencar, the race will then climb the iconic Ballaghisheen Pass (A route regularly used by An Rás Tailteann) and descend into Dromid, Mastergeehy and onto Waterville. Then, the race will follow the main road from Waterville to Sneem via N70 Ring of Kerry Road.

The race will take its first pass through Sneem towards St Patricks Church in Tahilla where it will turn left and climb up towards Creeveen and descend back into Sneem on the R568 before coming out at the South Square, taking a sharp left and finishing outside the Sneem Hotel.

The Stage is 114KM of racing in length approx.
