Stage 2, The Killarney stage, always an epic stage, and this year is no different with 7 KOH’s. Starting with a 9km neutralised roll-out to Fossa from St. Olivers School. The racing will get underway at 10:00 am, approx 1km up the Gap Road heading over the Bord of Works to Glencuttane cross, where we join last year’s route and head to South Kerry over Ballaghisheen.
Following the road all the way to Chapel Cross, just outside Waterville, we turn right onto the N70 for approx. 1.7 km approx heading for for Cahersiveen. At Pauline Sugrue Auctioneers we take the R567 heading for Ballinskelligs from where we ascend the Coom into taking in the breathtaking vista as we crest the top on our way into The Glen and down to St. Finian’s Bay.
From here, it’s up and over the Cools climb to Ardcost cross where we turn left for our first visit to Portmagee Village. From here we take on the toughest climb of the day, Coomanaspic.
Down the technical decent and back through St. Finian’s Bay Village, we again head up and over Cools, the final KOH, to Ardcost cross where we turn left for our second visit to Portmagee Village and the finish outside Portmagee GAA grounds.
