Paddy Clarke of Liquidworx Fitscience is the new race leader of the Kerry Group Ras Mumhan after today’s’ stage which started in Waterville and took in Valentia Island a total distance of 142kms.
The stage was run in conditions which were superb with sunshine the order of the day. The stage was won by Paudi O’Brien of Osborne Meats/The Edge Sports in a closely contested sprint by nine escapees who forged ahead shortly before Cahirciveen.
The overall leader overnight Sean McKenna of Cycling Ireland Development had the misfortune to crash in the closing stages. There is a rule that permits Sean to have the same aggregate time of the group that he was in, which was one minute plus behind the stage winner O’Brien who incidentally won this particular stage last year.
