Kerry Group Ras Mumhan Stage one
Dutch man Robert Jan Mol won today’s 96 kilometre opening stage. Twenty two year old Mol out sprinted Sean Lacey from the Edge Racing Team in Cork with Andrew Roche from the Isle Of Man in third. All three were part of a twelve man group that went clear of the main field after ten kilometres. Their lead went to over four minutes at Caragh Lake less than twenty kilometres from the finish. Mol will wear the yellow jersey on tomorrow’s 140 kilometre stage, while Tralee man Lacey leads the King Of The Mountains classification.
Stage two tomorrow will take the 133 rider field from Killarney to Kilgarvan, Kenmare over the Healy pass, Glengariff back to Kenmare and on to finish at Molls Gap after 140 kilometres at around 3.30pm.
