Thank You
Well it’s over for another year. It was our biggest and arguably best promotion of Kerry Group Rás Mumhan to date. One hundred and sixty three riders took the start and we got them home safely and enjoyably. This could only have been achieved by the hard work and commitment of the hundreds of volunteers who helped out at the race.
While some of us have more visibility than others the reality is that, the role fulfilled by each and every volunteer is critical to the success of the event. So to every flagman/flagwoman, to every driver, to our corps of motorcycle marshals, to everyone who helped at race start/race finish, to the technical officials, to everyone who helped out in any way at the race, to the Doyle family for the spread at prize presentation, to the riders and their teams and to the public for generating a wonderful atmosphere around the stages; thank you most sincerely.
The event is only possible through the generosity of our sponsors and especially to Kerry Group who have a philosophy of supporting volunteer activity in the community. The secondary sponsors of the race are brilliant as are the business community in Killorglin, Waterville and Dingle.
The print, radio, TV and online media provided a wonderful service by their superlative coverage of the event.
The safety of the race is the most important consideration in the planning of Kerry Group Rás Mumhan. The support from Kerry County Council Roads Section, Safety Department and Kerry Civil Defence was superb. Particular thanks has to be directed towards the Area Engineers in the Killorglin, Killarney, Cahersiveen, Castleisland, Dingle and Tralee areas and their staff.
Finally, our gold medal thanks must go to the members of An Garda Siochana. From early planning through to the delivery, the commitment of all the members in the Division of Kerry was magnificent. The skill of the Garda Outriders accompanying the race and the efficiency of the Garda support at difficult junctions was remarked on by everyone.
Planning for the 2013 Kerry Group Rás Mumhan is already underway and we hope you will be available again to share in the fun and enjoyment of weekend
